ABOUT: Melissa Orkin received her M.A. in Child Development from Tufts University and she is currently a doctoral candidate in the same program . Melissa is a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor at the Associate Level and is trained in other specialized reading and writing programs such as Wilson, Project Read, and RAVE-O. Melissa’s experience in school, clincial and research settings has afforded her a unique opportunity to support children with  on  has experience working in She is also the co-creator of the Master Your Mind workshop which builds Executive Function skills for middle and high school students.

Melissa provides services for students struggling in the following areas:

• Reading Disabilities
• Written Expression
• Executive Function (Organization, Goal Setting, Time Management)
• Test Taking
• Project Planning
• General Homework Assistance

PHILOSOPHY: As an educator, Ms. Orkin believes that it is her role to provide a supportive and consistent learning environment, empower students with educational strategies, and foster effort in all academic endeavors. She utilizes multi-sensory techniques to stimulate learning and works with students to identify and achieve academic and non-academic goals.

LOCATION: Cambridge, MA area including (Cambridge, Arlington, Lexington, Somerville, Brookline, and Belmont). Services can take place in a student’s home or a neutral location like a library.

RATE: $50/hour. Payment for first session is due upon completion of first session. Thereafter, clients will be billed on a bi-weekly basis.
